Shalom Brune-Franklin was born in St Albans, England, on August 8, 1994. She is the daughter of Ingrid Brune, a Mauritian mother, and Phillip Franklin, a British father.

The actress went to Australia with her parents and younger brother Siam Franklin when she was 14 years old. Shalom also attended the Ocean Reef Senior High School.

Franklin went on to Edith Cowan University and received a journalism degree. To pursue a career in acting, the actress studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
