Born on October 8, 2004, Raul Rosas Jr. is seventeen in 2022. Hailing from Santa Rosa, California, Rosas won a contract with the UFC with his outstanding performance in Week 9 of Dana’s Contender Series.
In front of UFC boss ‘Dana White’ this week, Rosas Jr. competed against 25-year-old Mando Gutierrez at APEX in Las Vegas and put on a jiujitsu clinic.
The American fighter is six fights into his professional career and is still unbeaten. He competes out of Eddie Bravo’s 10th Planet Jiujitsu in Las Vegas.
The bantamweight won unanimously, becoming the DWCS’s youngest champion, after clocking more than ten minutes of control time throughout the three rounds. More impressive than what the teen accomplished, however, was how he did it.
To illustrate, at a relentless pace, Rosas landed a spinning back kick, avoided multiple guillotine attempts, faked a flying knee to gain the upper hand, fought off his back, nearly executed a smooth Suloev Stretch submission, and made Gutierrez wear him like a human backpack.
