Peter Mark Kendall was born in Baltimore, Maryland. His parents emigrated with his three older siblings from South Africa in 1985. He grew up in Towson, a suburb outside of the city.
He attended McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College), where he received a BA in Theatre and Jazz Studies. He got his MFA in Acting from the Brown University/Trinity Rep Program.
