Heather is very private when it comes to her personal life. She has not revealed the identities of her parents to the media yet. However, she is very close to her mother.
Hemmen’s mother is a Costa Rican Latina, and her father is an African-American English (AAE). Despite her father’s AAE ancestry, she likes to identify herself as a Latina. In a 2010 interview with Hollywood Life, she described her father as a hippy.
Hemmens grew up in the little town of Waldo, the youngest of three siblings: two older brothers and a sister. During the first two years in high school, she attended Mount View High School in Thorndike, Maine, before moving to Walnut Hill School.
Her brothers are both musicians, and Hemmens has been interested in music since childhood. After graduating from high school, Heather decided to join a band on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
She later moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue her career as an actress. Hemmens is a martial arts black belt who has also finished firearms training.
