Kevin Macleod has been releasing his music since 1996, but he started gaining popularity in the 2010s.
He has created a website called FreePD.com, which aims to collect new public domain sound recordings from several artists. In addition, his site has a collection of quality libraries of modern songs by artists which do not contain any copyright claims.
His popular music songs are Monkeys Spinning Monkeys, Investigations, Sneaky Adventure, and Hidden Agenda. Though most of his songs got released for video games, they are currently used in funny videos as background music.
There is also a documentary film Royalty-Free: The Music of Kevin MacLeod, based on his career. The film was initially released in October 2020.
