Carman Deck was executed and put to death on Tuesday night for the 1996 killings of a couple in De Soto, Missouri.
Carman was put to death by lethal injection and proclaimed dead at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, based on Missouri Department of Corrections.
In the previous six years, he was the fifth person to be executed in the state. In 1996, Deck, 56, assassinated Zelma and James Long in their De Soto home.
Deck mumbled a few inaudible phrases as the 5 grams of pentobarbital were delivered, then exhaled a few breaths before all movement came to a halt, which took only a few seconds.
