After leaving Ron, Heather later married Grossman, a sweet and loving man she met through a friend, in 1997.

They were traveling through Florida when they stopped at a red light and heard gunshots. One of those shootings hits Heather in msec, ripping a fist-sized hole through her throat, in the left side, and out the right.

She was ‘dead’ for a few seconds when she stopped breathing and became utterly unconscious. A medic was purchasing his meal in the supermarket around the corner when he heard a buzz.

Although paramedics could resuscitate her, she was soon identified as a person with quadriplegia and encountered a lengthy period of recovery and care.

Ron fled to different places but eventually, he got caught, and he is serving life imprisonment now.
