Max Scherzer, the star pitcher for the New York Mets, exited their game against the Washington Nationals on Saturday night with what seemed to be an injury.

Following Scherzer, as he went back into the clubhouse were pitching coach Jeremy Hefner and a trainer trailing his performance in which he threw 67 pitches throughout five innings.

At the beginning of the sixth inning, right-handed pitcher Tommy Hunter took over for Scherzer as the starting pitcher. Earlier in the season, Scherzer had an oblique injury that sidelined him for almost six weeks.

As they prepare for the postseason, the Mets are crossing their fingers that all of the members of their pitching staff can maintain their health. Later on, it was revealed by the Mets that Scherzer had left side tiredness and had to leave the game for precautionary reasons.

This information was based on various accounts. The prior injury to Scherzer’s oblique muscle occurred on the left side of his body. It is hoped that Scherzer was able to spot this problem in its early stages and that it would not develop into anything more problematic.

Following the game, Scherzer stated to the press that he anticipates making his next start, which will take place after another day of recovery.

Scherzer said that the only sensation on his left side was weariness, and he did not appear concerned about the issue. He did not know if he would be given preventative imaging. Still, he stated that it was likely not something that would be necessary.
