Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was born in Syracuse, New York in the United States of America on July 3, 1962. The 52-year-old comes from a family of German, English and Irish ancestry. He was born to Thomas Mapother III, an electrical engineer, and Mary Lee, a teacher. After his father’s death in January 1984, 12-year-old Tom moved with his in-laws, Joseph and Mary Lee Pfeiffer South. He has three sisters: Marian Mapother, Lee Anne DeVette and Cass Mapother. Tom grew up in a seminary at age 14, growing up in a very religious Catholic family. He unfortunately gave up after spending a year there. The world first got to know the talented actor after his appearance in the 1981 film, Endless Love.
