Anfernee Simons was born and reared in Altamonte Springs, Florida, by his parents. His mother is Tameka Simons, and his father is Charles Simons.
Anfernee’s father, Charles, was a tough coach for him. Charles began coaching his kid at a young age, and as a consequence, his son was drafted first overall by the Portland club.
Simons credits his father as the most influential person in his career and life, and he attributes his mental preparation for games to his father’s roughness during coaching sessions.
Because Charles and his wife, Tameka, were fans of the Orlando Magic, they named their kid Anfernee after Penny Hardaway.
