Simon Le Bon’s career began at the age of six with a British Persil washing powder’s television advertisement. He made his West End debut in “Tom Brown’s School Days,” at the age of 13. He was also featured on the full cast album, released by Decca in 1972.
After school, Simon studied drama at the University of Birmingham, where his then-girlfriend, Fiona Kemp, persuaded him to try for a new band, Duran Duran. Shortly after joining it, he left the university to devote himself to the group, completely. With hits such as “Planet Earth,” “Careless Memories,” and “Rio,” the band grew multifold in 7 years, i.e., by 1985. However, the band’s success started to decrease during the late 1980s.
Simon, with his fellow band members of Duran Duran, Nick Rhodes, and Roger Taylor formed another pop band “Arcadia” in 1985.
Apart from this, he also founded and set up SYN Entertainment in Tokyo, a Japanese music company with his wife, Yasmin Le Bon, and his friend, Nick Wood.
