Some part of the series “True Story” is based on the comedian, Kevin Hart’s real-life but most of it is fictionalized to make the storyline better.

In the series, it is represented as how his older brother nearly destroyed his career, well it is not entirely false either. His brother did have some problems in their journey.

Kevin’s brother Robert was a troublesome sibling and he used to associate himself with gangs and deal drugs on the streets.

Kevin explains how one day his brother tried to rob an old woman, their mother, Nancy Hart, took Robert to court, calling for emancipation ultimately shunning him from the family.

But before their mother passed away in 2007 and learning from his experiences, Robert seemingly mended ties with both his brother, Kevin, and mother.

Even though the script is largely fictionalized by creator Eric Newman, there are some elements of the story that are accurate to Kevin Hart’s real life.
