Molly Watson was killed on April 27, 2018, in a remote area of Monroe County.

She planned to marry Addie two days later at the Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center in Columbia, Mo.

However, James was still married to Melanie Addie, a lieutenant at the Moberly Correctional Facility.

They lived together with their daughter, Emma, in a home outside of Santa Fe in far Monroe County near the Audrain County line.

Melanie testified that she was unaware of Addie’s relationship with Watson during the trial. 

Moreover, She was informed about the incident by Missouri State Highway Patrol sergeant, who arrived at her home at 2:20 a.m. On April 28, 2018, to notify Addie’s fiancée had been murdered.
