Quinton Lucas, the mayor of Kansas City, had been dating Katherine Carttar, a fellow government official, long before he was elected to the city’s highest office.

During the 2019 mayoral elections, Carttar had also expressed her support for him on social media.

Lucas is a resident of the historic 18th and Vine neighborhood.
