Louie Gohmert had an emotional outburst after Democratic legislators indicated that Republicans’ resistance to additional firearms limits put them on the side of mass killers who had committed killings in many American cities in the previous month according to the Independent.
He called it “an outrage” that his colleagues implied Republicans “must be here for the gunman” during a House Judiciary Committee markup of legislation to raise the age of purchase of high-powered military-style firearms from 18 to 21.
“Democrats govern the main cities with the highest murder rates – your policies have been demonstrated to get people killed,” he added, before accusing Democrats of siding with individuals who conduct violent crimes in territories under their control.
