Liberte Chan was born on the 16th of July, in Los Angeles, California. The year she was born is not currently known. She is an American national who was born to European and Asian parents. Chan grew up in Los Angeles the last of three, with two brothers before her. Chan had a knack for figure skating and participated in both national and international events. She was so good that she got ranked as one of the best skaters in singles and pairs across the US.
At a young age, Liberte Chan had known she wanted to enter the world of journalism, but she was a shy girl and was terrified of speaking to a crowd of people. She once remarked that she could easily skate in front of hundreds but wouldn’t be able to do it if she had to talk. However, she overcame that fear and began her education with her end goal in sight.
Liberte Chan took her education very serious right from the beginning. She attended the Marlborough School for Girls— a preparatory secondary school located in Los Angeles, graduating in 1998. From there she moved on to attend the University of Massachusetts, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism. From Mississippi State University, she got her degree in meteorology. The talented journalist also has a degree in broadcast journalism that she obtained from the University of California, Los Angeles. To top it all off, Chan also went to USC’s Keck School of Medicine, finishing with a Master’s in Public Health Communications.
Liberte Chan’s Career
Liberte Chan started out her career in journalism by joining up with the CW-affiliated news station KTLA in 2003. She was a news writer for the channel for the better part of three years before she left. She next worked with KCOY-TV and KKFX, both channels affiliated with CBS and Fox respectively. Chan was a reporter for a two-year span from 2006 to 2008.
After she left KCOY-TV/KKFX, the call of journalism landed Liberte Chan on KMIR 6 News station. From 2008 to 2010, she was a morning reporter for the station. She put her writing and meteorology skills to good use when she joined KTLA station in 2010. As of 2019, she also works for the station as a weathercaster, news reporter and meteorologist. There is the belief amongst fans that Liberte Chan runs her own clothing line. However, that has not yet been confirmed.
