Kristin Pierce Career: WWL
Right after graduation, Kristin started her career by joining WTVG as an associate producer. She assisted the reporters with the production of packages for news broadcasts. She also monitored news crews to ensure that they remained on assigned tasks and continued to meet daily goals. Kristin even managed the little things like conducting interviews using communication skills.
She eventually moved to WDIV-TV, where she continued working as an associate producer. She edited the videos, updated the website and social media sites. The social sites attracted more viewers and improved the station’s image.
Kristin soon promoted her level to a reporter and began working at WXYZ/WMYD in Southfield, MI. During her position at WXYZ, she covered several national news stories like the corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, the Renisha McBride murder case, and the Flint water crisis.
She moved to WWL in January 2017 and worked as an anchor and reporter alongside Sheba Turk. She contributed her time in WWL covering the removal of Confederate-era monuments which garnered national attention, including the breaking news and community-driven stories.
Kristin also broke the story of the utility company in New Orleans, that was paying actors to attend city council meetings. The meetings were held in support of a $210 million ratepayer-funded gas plant which led to a city council investigation.
