Greer grew up when segregation and racial prejudice were widespread in this city. He did not allow this to taint his enthusiasm. Jarvis was a footballer star. He used to play football at Christian Brothers High School. He as well played defensive back at Memphis State.
He used to create fake news when he was a child. He would create the news on his 8 mm Bell and Howell wind-up camera. He would then send the film to Walgreens and wait to see what it looked like. Jarvis attended the University of Memphis where he earned himself a bachelor’s degree in communication and fine arts.
After his graduation from the Univesity of Memphis, Greer showed up at WMC’s Union Avenue office. He was to work alongside Eaton. He would grip, logging equipment, and did a pretty job. Greep’s first story on air was about the used car lots that once lined Lamar Avenue. It was very horrible.
WMC’s Union Avenue office allowed him to follow his passion. He more so majored in sports. He served for seven years as a weekend sports anchor. He was Eaton’s primary backup. Eaton retired in 1991. After his retirement, Jarvis was elevated to his current role as a sports director.
