Amare Stoudemire had shared the story of his eye surgery on the Late Show with David Letterman. He had to undergo surgery to fix the retina following the eye injury incident.
It took him eight weeks to recover, which also caused him to miss the rest of the season in 2008-2009. He had mentioned that it was a difficult time for him.
He added that he thought he would never be able to play basketball again. When the doctor told him that he needed an emergency procedure, he had to lay down on the table 22 hours a day for ten straight days to reattach the retina.
The athlete stated that he was unsure if he would regain his vision and his career in the NBA. However, he persevered and slowly waited for the recovery days to pass.
Following his recovery, he wore protective goggles when he returned to the court. Since that incident, he could be seen putting on those goggles in every match.
