Val Kilmer’s health seems to be doing good as aside from his voice loss, no health condition has been explored on the web.
Actually, it was in 2015 that Kilmer learned that he had oral cancer but kept his condition under wraps as he underwent treatment in 2015 secretly. Though Kilmer was cancer-free by 2016, his tracheostomy surgery left permanently damaged his vocal cords.
In his 2021 documentary, the actor Val noted that he uses a feeding tube and can not speak without plugging the tube in his throat. He also wrote that he has to make a choice to breathe or to eat.
But, according to Fortune, artificial intelligence (AI) is helping him speak again and restore his voice.
As per the reports, Val Kilmer’s voice in Top Gun: Maverick is actually AI that learned Val’s voice from the footage, etc., and was able to mimic Val’s voice closely, which was then used in the movie.
