During an interview, Campbell confirmed that he was gay, following rumors that he was dating Anthony Callea, an Australian singer and songwriter.

He denied the rumors, but on February 11, 2008, on Vega 91.5’s breakfast show, Campbell confirmed that he and Callie had decided to start dating.

Later, on November 17, 2014, the two married in New Zealand, where same-sex marriage is legal, surrounded by their parents and close friends. Then, they flew back to Melbourne for a celebratory dinner party after changing their vows.
