She was close friends with the rapper Tupac Shakur, and earlier this year, it was announced that she would serve as executive producer of a film on the activist artist’s mother, Afeni Shakur. A biography of Afeni that she also penned was released in 2005.
Terrence Duckett, a consultant, and the actor were married from 1998 to 2008. Imani Duckett, the couple’s daughter, was born in 1999.
After ten years of marriage, Guy and Duckett announced their divorce on April 8, 2008, citing irreconcilable reasons. The following year, Guy and her daughter moved to Atlanta, Guy’s hometown.
