Talking about Gloria Reuben’s parents she was born in Toronto, Ontario, on June 9, 1964, to Pearl Avis (Mills), a classical vocalist, and Cyril George Reuben, an engineer. They were both Jamaican natives.
Her father was primarily Jewish, but he also had some African ancestors, and her mother is mostly African. Her father passed away when she was a child.
Reuben was the sixth of six children. In her 2019 memoir My Brothers’ Keeper, Reuben discusses her relationship with and experience with the loss of her brothers.
