When the contentious subject of women’s access to abortion came up, Hasselbeck and cohost Joy Behar got into a heated argument.
Hasselbeck, a vehement opponent of abortion, advised women to consider alternative possibilities, such as adoption agencies that will pair a mother-to-be with a family that is eager to have a child.
Goldberg gave her own perspective in return. God gave us the intelligence to recognize when something wouldn’t work out for us. Giving us the option to do so is terrific, as Goldberg noted while describing the nature of her relationship with God as “choppy.”
In addition, Hasselbeck expressed her viewpoint on the recent Roe v. Wade verdict by the Supreme Court, saying that “just because something is a right doesn’t make it right.”
As the discussion went on, Hasselbeck and Behar continued to argue, with Hasselbeck digging in her heels as Behar clarified why adoption isn’t an easy fix.
Behar emphasized that prohibiting abortion was a form of judgment because there are currently 117,000 children in the United States waiting to be adopted. But when you forbid something, you are actually passing judgment on someone, she argued.
