He first got married to a woman named Mónica Pretelini in 1963.
They had three children together named Paulina, Alejandro, and Nicole.
They were a happy family living together until Monica suffered from epilepsy and died in 2007 from an epilepsy episode.

He then got married to soap opera actress Angélica Rivera.
She was hired to publicize EPN’s political party and work. They exchanged wedding vows in November of 2011.
They were married for more than seven years. Then Angélica filed for divorce, and they were separated on February 8, 2019.
