Morneau is the youngest son of George Morneau, who is a softball and baseball hitting instructor, a childcare worker, and the proprietor of a sporting goods company.
Audra Chartrand, his mother, is a former fast-pitch softball player and elementary school teacher. Geordie is Justin’s older brother.
When Morneau was seven years old, his parents split. Justin now has two stepsisters after his mother remarried in 2006.
On January 10, 2009, Morneau married Minnesota native Krista Martin at Landmark Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The couple is the parents of five children.
In New Westminster, Morneau’s family is well-known. On February 2, 2008, the city renamed Moody Park Diamond #5 Justin Morneau Field in his honor.
Morneau is a believer in superstitions. He wore number 33 for much of his career in honor of his idol, retired NHL goaltender Patrick Roy.
