Gary Betzner is currently living with his third wife Sally Betzner.
Betzner completed his sentence without any retaliation from the cartel. In 2011, he was freed.
Gary also had a daughter with whom he faked his death, and was later revealed that the was alive.
In 1984, Betzner was apprehended for drug trafficking. He claimed that the CIA promised him that he would not be imprisoned.
When that didn’t happen, and Betzner was instead sentenced to 27 years in prison, he went after them.
He made these claims in front of a Senate Committee hearing in 1988. These confessions, understandably, did not endear him to Escobar.
