There has been no record of Claudette Colvin’s legal husband. It is said that she became pregnant by a much elderly married man after she was arrested.
Claudette became a mother for the first time in March 1956. The father of her child was often assumed to be Elliot Klein, who was a notable white man supporting black people.
Two of them remained friends.
