The celebrity chef was born Robert Paul Irvine in Wiltshire, England, on September 24, 1965, to middle-class parents. He spent most of his formative years in Wiltshire, United Kingdom. We’re not privy to details about his childhood, early education, parents, or what they do for a living. We, however, know that Irvine began his culinary career at a very young age. When he was fifteen, he was enlisted in the UK Royal Navy, not as a sailor but to hone his culinary skills.
After completing his culinary training, Irvine went on to serve aboard the Queen’s Royal Yacht Britannia and had to undergo a compulsory ten-year tour of duty. Armed with the knowledge from his duty tour, the chef, who was eager for more exposure, moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, where he worked as a consultant in the town Bali, after which he went to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He also grew to become Executive Chef aboard several cruise ships and organizations, including Donald Trump’s Taj Mahal, and the five-star MS Crystal Harmony.
