The Chappelle family is definitely multicultural, and Elaine Chappelle is clearly proud of the cultural and even religious diversity in her home. Dave, whose mother is half-white, is from Washington, while Elaine is from Brooklyn, New York, but of Filipino descent. Obviously from their cultural heritage, Dave once joked that his children turned out to be Puerto Rican. It certainly made some of his fans laugh.

There is also a religious disparity between Elaine Chappelle and her husband. Dave converted to Islam shortly before marrying her, but she was raised in Christianity all her life and refused to give it up after marriage. They live surprisingly well together and sometimes have respectable debates about religion. I guess only time will tell what religion their children will go to, if any.

Speaking of children, Elaine Chappelle and her husband have three beautiful children, two boys and a baby girl. Sulayman Chappelle, Ibrahim Chappelle and Sonal Chappelle reflect their multicultural upbringing.

Elaine Chappelle and her family live in YellowSprings, on a 25-hectare ranch near the college of Antioch where her husband’s father taught music. Elaine may not be comfortable with publicity, however, she and her family love being around good people, which is part of why Dave bought the property they now call home. Dave says their neighbors are the best in the world.

Elaine is definitely an asset to Dave and protecting him from the media onslaught. This was notably when Dave Chappelle walked away from his lucrative career and moved to South Africa after realizing he had not thoroughly dealt with the issues resulting from his father’s death.

Media rumors began to swirl accusing him of leaving his wife and turning to a life of drugs and self-medication. Elaine Chappelle was both angry and shocked. She helped her husband stay in South Africa for as long as he needed to find a solution because she didn’t think he was strong enough to face the media and survive.

Well, it’s back and better and doing more than just comedy, and it’s all thanks to the courage and unwavering support of Elaine Chappelle. Good things come in small packages — and 5-foot-1-inch-tall Elaine Chappelle is definitely a blessing to the Chappelle family.
