Andrew Strauss does not have a new wife. He has not remarried yet.
The former cricketer was married to his wife, Ruth McDonald. He met Ruth for the first time in Australia during his early professional career.
Strauss and Ruth started dating and eventually tied the knot in October 2003. The two lived a happy life with one another and were together until Ruth’s death in 2018.
Furthermore, Ruth was diagnosed with an incurable form of lung cancer in 2017. She had stage four ALK-positive non-small-cell lung cancer.
His late wife was always very serious about her health and had never smoked a cigarette in her life. So, Strauss and Ruth never suspected she’d have cancer when she started to feel sick.
The doctor first suspected she had kidney stones and asked for a scan. But, the scan showed cancer had already spread around her body.
The moments after the diagnosis was the most difficult moments of Strauss’ life.
With the help of medication and new drugs, Ruth’s condition improved. However, her cancer returned in a more aggressive manner despite being under treatment.
Her health started to deteriorate over time. Strauss said Ruth faced her death with courage and even prepared them and their two boys to deal with their grief.
Ruth died on December 29, 2018.
Strauss has been involved in several campaigns supporting lung cancer after her demise, including Ruth Strauss Foundation.
