Tammy Wynette and Michael Tomlin marital bond couldn’t stand the test of time. Tammy married her ex-husband Tomlin only weeks after meeting and courting each other.
Wynette met Tomlin, a Nashville-based realtor, through her friend Nan Crofton. After months of knowing each other, the couple tied the knot on July 18, 1976, in the artists’ Nashville home.
The country singer was dating actor Burt Reynolds before she went out with Tomlin. Their relationship was kept private until it was made public by the press in 1977. The pair remained friends several years later, even after Tammy ended their romance.
However, their marital life remained relatively short-lived, as their marriage was annulled just six weeks after their wedding. Reportedly, Tomlin was a squander and fired a pistol on the beach outside her Florida house, which scared her children.
Soon after their Hawaiian-themed wedding, Tomlin, with the reporters, said, “I don’t want to be known as ‘Mr. Tammy Wynette’. This came true, as the couple’s marriage lasted only three months.
While Tomlin had denied the claims, Wynette’s friends previously had claimed the realtor led a distorted life. From renting private jets to drinking Dom Pérignon and driving a Mercedes Benz, Tomlin lived a luxurious lifestyle.
Joan Dew, the co-author of Tammy’s autobiography Stand By Your Man, while remembering Tomlin, said that it was all a facade and he had even rented his office furniture.
