After winning two beauty pageants, she married Roy Bryant, an ex-soldier who had dropped out of high school. Mrs. Bryant, formerly Carolyn Bryant Donham, passed away at 88.
According to a statement made on Thursday by Megan LeBoeuf, chief investigator for the Calcasieu Parish coroner’s office in Louisiana, a death occurred on Tuesday in the small community of Westlake in that state. Ms. LeBoeuf gave no other details.
Mrs. Bryant, a former beauty queen portrayed as poor, unworldly, and uneducated in the news media in 1955, was a product of her time and location, as her trial testimony under oath demonstrates.
