Verstappen began karting when he was eight years old and was quickly racing in national events. He was crowned Dutch junior champion in 1984.
He went on to win two European titles due to his sustained success. Verstappen competed in a total of 107 Grands Prix.
He was the second-best Dutch driver in Formula One history, after only his son, Max, with two podium finishes and 17 championship points (115 in the present system).
The Belgian Grand Prix in 1994 was Jos Verstappen’s best qualifying position.
After failing to acquire payment guarantees, Verstappen left A1 Team Netherlands on September 27, 2006. As a result, Verstappen wasn’t paid until a few weeks before the following season for the 2005/06 season.
Jeroen Bleekemolen replaced him in the team’s home race in Zandvoort for the first race of the 2006/07 season.
