He was born as José Ariel Camacho Barraza on 8 July 1992 in Guamuchil, Sinaloa, Mexico. He, however, grew up in Angostura, Sinaloa where he started singing at the young age of twelve. Ariel also started playing the guitar from an early age. On completing high school, he started performing at various concerts in his hometown and its environs.
In 2013, Camacho teamed up with his friends, César Iván Sánchez, and Omar Burgos to form a music band. The trio named their band “Ariel Camacho y Los Plebes del Rancho” which means “Ariel Camacho and the Guys from the Ranch”. Ariel had earlier met Sanchez a.k.a “El Tigre” while he was still in middle school. While the latter played the rhythm guitar as well as did backing vocals, Burgos a.k.a “El Cenizo” played the tuba. Ariel himself served as the lead vocalist while also playing the twelve-string guitar (Requinto). The band’s unconventional combination of music instruments (guitar, requinto, and tuba) became instrumental to their quick rise to popularity. Moreover, their keeping up with the classical legacies of earlier musicians of their genre also added to their fame.
The group signed to DEL Records after which they released several albums/songs including El Karma (2014), “Toro Encartado”, “Te Metiste”, “Rey de Corazones”, and later Hablemos (2015). They also performed at various concerts, earning much popularity in both in their locality and on social media. The group also collaborated with other established singers and musicians among whom were Marca Registrada, Regulo Caro, and Grupo Fernandez.
