Al Trautwig is not sick at the moment. However, he took a leave of absence in September 2019.

The sports commentator described his absence as a personal reason after he appeared unwell to many viewers during coverage of a Rangers’ preseason game.

Furthermore, Trautwig no longer works for MSG, where he worked for three decades as the network did not renew its contract last year. 

So many viewers speculated his ongoing absence was related to the apparent health problem in 2019. But he said that was not the case. 

Thus, he is not sick and is healthy, and he also stated that his medical issue was resolved within two weeks of the September of 2019.
